Sidney Brown

Sidney Brown was born and raised in South Florida.  He graduated from Lake Placid High School in 1979.  In 1982 he went to work for the Florida Forest Service as a Wildland Firefighter and was stationed in Hendry County, FL.  As a Wildland Firefighter he operated heavy equipment and engines for 35 years. He became a Senior Ranger in 1992 and along with his firefighting duties, he helped develop, manage, and maintain the 32,000-acre Okaloacoochee Slough State Forest.  In 1994 he became the South Florida Region 4 Strike Team Task Force Leader.  In 1999 he entered the aviation side of firefighting as a SEAT Manager. He retired in 2016 but continued to manage SEATs until 2020, when he was asked by the Chief Pilot for Coastal Air Strike if he was interested in becoming a driver.  He accepted and is now entering his fifth season with Coastal where he plans on many more fire seasons.

We couldn’t perform the tasks we do in the air without efficient, dependable support on the ground. Sidney oversees the maintenance of our Fuel Service Vehicle (FSV) and SEAT Support Vehicle (SSV) fleet, as well as training, evaluating, and supervising all FSV/SSV Drivers.
